INTENSITY DISCUSSION GROUP
Michael Gilbert is offering weekly sessions for those interested in exploring a universal principle that exists in all methods; be it yoga, pilates, massage therapy, etc. Ask yourself what is the same in everything?
Whether, you are lifting weights or focusing on the core in pilates, balanced on one foot or in a hand stand; in chronic pain or feeling great; walking a mile or sitting for hours, intensity is evident. Once you understand this principle you will be able to develop the skills and tools to manage the experience of intensity. What is intensity?
Intensity is not a behavior, or a thought, or a feeling; they are not facts. The sessions will be a forum to explore the question of intensity and facts thereof. Providing a fresh perspective on the experience of life. As a participant you are asked to come each week with a practice for the group to discuss and examine. (e.g. yoga pose, pilates exercise, weight lifting position, sitting posture, etc.)

MANAGE YOUR INTENSiTY
WORKSHOP SERIES
Do you understand why you feel pain? Whether it is a chronic or occasional, pain is a prevalent part of the human condition and sorely misunderstood. Most of us have been taught to think of pain as something that can be dealt with mainly through traditional medicine. However, there is a broader perspective to understanding pain.
This series of workshops that present pain not as a problem of structure, function, flexibility or strength, but as a problem of intensity and volume. No matter where you experience physical pain (e.g. the back, ankle, knee, hip, through headaches etc.), by participating in the workshop series you will gain the skills and tools that will enable you to become free from pain.

Each workshop is a goal in of itself that once brought together leads to success. This is a four step protocol. Success is the outcome of a clear equation, formula, or ritual. Language of Opposites teaches you how to cultivate a protocol for being larger.
We will spend these workshops creating a method of success that will be written and photo documented for your benefit. At the conclusion you will have a plan of action to be applied ten minutes a day. This plan of action, this cultivation of a formula, these applied rituals are the beginning of a new perception of life. Make a plan, create a formula, design a ritual become larger than life.
Workshop #1: Don’t Get Stuck - March 19, 2010
What does it mean to “feel stuck”? Is there a difference between feeling stuck and being in pain? Recognizing and understanding the feeling of “being stuck” is the most important first step on the road to being pain free. This workshop will explore the difference between fact and feeling, as well as the distinction between being “broken” versus being “out of tune”.
Workshop #2: Turning Down the Volume - April 16, 2010
This second workshop focuses on tools and skills, poses and breathing exercises, which are vital components in the successful management of physiological intensity. Turning the volume up or down in any system, including your body regulates the feeling of intensity. This is what we refer to as tuning your body.
Workshop #3: Creating Space - May 7, 2010
Through a concept we call “Creating Space” you will learn how to get effort out. This workshop provides you with a practical, manageable and customized yoga practice that would start you on living with a pain-free and versatile body. This is what we refer to teaching your body to smile.
Workshop #4: The Power of Effort Out - May 21, 2010
In the final workshop students will review what they learned as they develop a customized pain management plan with their peers and Michael R. Gilbert. Upon completion you feel empowered to take control of your physical pain through innovative coping methods
