Well, the world says we are tainted, morally inept -- broken, even -- from birth. Why?

Because so many who came before us know better. Don't they? The heavyweights of science, religion, medicine, all there to save us from that minefield known as human feelings, plotting our courses through life from the moment we are conceived. In other words, to keep us away from ourselves.

Let's turn all this on its head. Detach from everything we think we know. Wind the clock back. Go back in through the out door... What if we come into this world perfect? What if the goal is to achieve imperfection? From our clifftop vantage point below us is the domain of imperfection: disorder, imbalance, chaos. Yet if we enter this domain, would it not in the long run
compel an exceptional self-awareness?

Language of Intensity tells us we are born Diamonds, beautiful, yet rigid, valued but not practical. Coal, dirty yet utterly and eminently useful, and ultimately civilization-changing but yet imperfect, is what LoI tells us we need to develop into. Coal is more human, if you like. It is the departure from 'perfection' and the pursuit of this coal-like, imperfect existence where real human truth lies.

Michael R. If it's been a while since you have visited you'll notice that there have been some changes. First while our company still remains Language of Opposites our products are now branded under Language of Intensity; with a new logo and look. Tells us what you think?

Michael and I are incredibly excited about the future of LOI. We spent a lot of time honing our message and products. We can't wait to introduce to the world our ideas and perspective on well-being.

Starting this Saturday February 27, 2010, at 7PM, Michael will be hosting the first in a series of discussions groups which are free and open to anyone who would like to explore our insights about intensity. Michael will also be hosting a workshop series, at New York Yoga called Pain Lab, that will explore intensity and it's role in chronic pain. If you suffer from chronic pain or know someone who does you won't want to miss this series. The first Pain Lab workshop kicks off next month. See our Events page for details on both of these events.

We have much more in store for 2010, including the development of a panel on Health and Well-Being, the completion of our first book and the launch of our Well-Being in Business symposiums and consulting program. We are also excited to announce that we will begin blogging regularly with articles, commentary and new perspectives on Health and Well-Being.

It's looking to be a great year for the LOI team. We look forward to providing more details about our various products and programs soon. In the meantime check out one of Michael's yoga classes and see what the buzz is all about.

Being Larger Event

It's been a while since our last event. Michael and I spent the Summer and Fall working with Language of Opposites in preparations for a book and workshop series. This Saturday will be the first event of many on our way to building a community dedicated to teaching the understanding and action of well being. We hope to see many of our former students and new faces soon.

Being Larger Event

Michael Gilbert, of Language of Opposites, is offering a one day event for those interested in being larger than their personal discipline. This workshop is about a universal language that exists in all methods, be it yoga, pilates, massage therapy, etc. Language of Opposites is not a new discipline or method or technique but a value added to what you already do when working with private clients, groups or on your own. Language of Opposites educates people how to cultivate well being.

The goal is to understand that people are not broken, only stuck, and though the various forms of stuck appear different, all follow a clear pattern. Through the Language of Opposites we can understand that being stuck is merely a lack of opposites, not a structural or functional deficiency. Language of Opposites will give you a clear and precise point of reference to evaluate any methods and see the common principles that make all effective.

During the workshop we will evaluate and solve three case studies together. Each case study will highlight how one discipline was successfully applied to a particular condition of chronic pain and how the Language of Opposites spans them all. We will also spend time exploring your personal case studies and questions so bring them along to share.

Welcome to the Language of Intensity

Stay tuned for some great articles, videos and daily thoughts from Michael and the team.

Thank you
